A Young Evangelist and his Megaphone
He was only 17 years old when he began sharing the Gospel.
David grew up in a Hindu family in Northern India. He was zealous in his faith, even at a young age. Christian evangelists often came to David’s town, and he took it upon himself to violently chase them away. One evangelist kept coming back and no matter how many times David ran him out, he would return to tell everybody about Jesus. God rewarded this evangelist for his faithfulness and obedience by softening David’s heart.
One day the Christian evangelist came and David did not chase him away. He listened. David accepted Christ, he gave his life over to the Lord and joined the evangelist in ministry. He was only 17 years old when he began sharing the Gospel. David’s approach to leading others to Christ was simple; be loud and clear. He took a megaphone into villages and said, “There are two things I know about God. He heals and He saves you from your sin.” He would tell anyone that would listen. David shouted his simple message into his megaphone over and over again in every village he visited. “Four to five hours a day I would pray,” he told me. “On one occasion, I had a vision of a village, one that had never heard about Jesus. In this vision, I saw four men, each deathly ill. God told me to go immediately and so I went.” When David arrived he found the four men. Excitedly he told me, “I prayed for healing, instantaneously the men became well! Then I shared the Gospel. Within six months, 50 people accepted Christ, and I baptized them all!”
Today the village has a thriving church of 200 faithful followers. That one church has spawned the planting of another 70 churches all in the same region.
In Genesis 3:1 – 2 it says: Now the Lord said to Abraham, go forth from your country and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you. And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you.
Like Abraham, David was obedient to the Lord’s call. He was only 17 when he went into ministry, leaving behind his former life. He invested all he had for the Kingdom, and God multiplied his offering.
