Ignited by the Spirit

JOY: Welcome to The Unshakable Church, the podcast that unpacks spiritual truths and lessons Ron has learned through over 30 years of working with national church planters in the spiritual hotspots of the world.

RON: Hello everyone. It’s good to be back with you again after another month of seeing what God is doing around the world. Today, I want to share an observation — something we’ve been noticing growing within national church revivals. It’s exciting beyond words, and I’ll do my best to explain it.

One of my favourite passages in Scripture is John 7:37 – 39. It’s at the heart of every great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It says:

On the last and greatest day of the Feast of Tabernacles, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.’”

By this, He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive.

Now picture the scene. Everyone was seated as the priests carried water from the Pool of Siloam and poured it on the altar, following their rituals. But then, as if He could no longer contain Himself, Jesus stood up and cried out — offering the very thing everyone’s hearts were truly thirsting for: life through the Spirit of God.

From within him will flow rivers of living water.

That phrase captures the essence of what we’re witnessing in these revivals today. The indwelling Spirit isn’t a trickle; it’s a river flowing out of the innermost part of believers, consuming every part of their being.

The Feast of Tabernacles was known as a time of great joy and celebration. Its final day was called The Day of Great Salvation. The Hebrew word for salvation—Yeshua—is also the name of Jesus. Isaiah 12:3 says, With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.” In Hebrew, it literally reads, from the wells of Yeshua.”

And that’s exactly what we’re seeing around the world today. People are drawing from this well — the power source of the Holy Spirit — the promise of the Father that Jesus spoke about on that day.

This is the spark of life that ignites revival. A spark ignites a flame, and a flame becomes a fire that cannot be contained. That is what’s spreading now — spiritual life and power in the hearts of believers.

Remember Genesis 2:7: The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being.” That breath was more than physical life; it was the spark of God Himself — spiritual life, conscience, understanding, and the ability to communicate with our Creator.

We were made in His image. I remember an old saying — when a child looked like their parent, people would say, He’s the spitting image of his father.” That’s exactly what’s happening spiritually. As God breathes life into us through His Spirit, we begin to resemble our Heavenly Father. His likeness becomes visible in us.

In past writings, I’ve described what’s happening as spiritual adrenaline. I’ve shared this phrase with leaders around the world, and they all agree — something is being released right now among national believers that is new and powerful.

They had been praying for revival, but now they’re seeing it take shape. It’s vibrant, unstoppable, and filled with joy. Ephesians 3:20 says, Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” That’s exactly what we’re seeing — God doing far beyond anything we ever dreamed of.

One Indian leader recently said, It is a revival that far surpasses our wildest dreams. The joy of the Lord in the lives of new believers is like a river flowing out of heaven. Everywhere I travel, I see faces glowing with the joy of the Lord.”

He went on to tell me that this movement is being led by young people — thousands of them — called by God and filled with His Spirit.

As I’ve reviewed my notes from the past few years, especially since COVID, I’ve seen the same pattern repeated in country after country. This is not youthful emotionalism. It’s deep, lasting transformation — an unwavering passion to reach the lost, fueled by the Holy Spirit.

These young believers are hungry for the Word of God. They pray constantly. They walk closely with the Lord, conversing with Him daily, embodying what it means to pray without ceasing.”

A leader from China said, Young people are dedicating themselves to ministry. They want to drink deeply from the fountain of the Holy Spirit.” He himself was committing to invest more of his time to feed this youth revival rising across China.

In Serbia, among the Romani people, we saw the same thing — hundreds of young men and women gathering for prayer retreats, on their knees, crying out to God. When I asked the pastor who was leading this powerful movement where their energy was coming from, he said, It’s the young people. They are being baptized, transformed, and filled with the Holy Spirit. This is the spark of life — the spark of God’s power.”

From country to country, the story is the same. The revival we’re witnessing across the world is being led by a new generation — young believers who are sensing the spark of life within them.

They are committed to godly, Spirit-filled leadership. And while this isn’t happening everywhere, in the regions where the Holy Spirit is being poured out, God is raising up an army of young people who are living out the truth of John 7:37 – 39:

If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, streams of living water will flow from within him.”

This living water — the power of the Holy Spirit — is the gift we are seeing poured out across the globe.

Friends, be encouraged. What we’re witnessing is one of the signs of the end times — God’s Spirit being poured out on all people. The spark of life is spreading, and nothing can stop it.
