A Revival Growing in the Mountains

Across the mountains and villages of Laos, God is drawing people to Himself in remarkable ways. Although Christians make up only a small percentage of the population, the Church is growing as the Gospel reaches rural communities and tribal groups that have never before heard the message of Christ.

Empower Ministries partners with national church planting movements that are witnessing lives transformed through faithful evangelism, intentional discipleship, and the power of prayer. In some rural provinces, thousands hear the Gospel every month, and new believers quickly gather into house churches where they begin growing in their faith.

Many first encounter Jesus after witnessing a miraculous answer to prayer. Others are drawn by the unmistakable transformation they see in the lives of family members, friends, and neighbours. Even funerals have become unexpected opportunities to proclaim the Gospel, with multiple services held over several days where entire families hear the hope found in Christ.

Following Jesus in Laos comes at a cost. Some believers are threatened, imprisoned, denied access to community resources, or forced from their villages because they refuse to abandon their faith. Yet persecution has not stopped the Church. Instead, believers continue to stand firm, sharing the Gospel with courage and raising up new leaders from within their own communities.

Empower’s partners also demonstrate Christ’s love through practical ministry. Christian families are opening their homes to orphaned children, while livelihood training in agriculture, fish farming, trades, and small businesses helps strengthen families and creates natural opportunities to build relationships and share the Gospel.

Every new believer is personally discipled by mature Christians who teach them how to pray, study God’s Word, and grow in their faith before preparing the next generation of church leaders.

In Laos, the Church is not simply surviving. It is growing, multiplying, and shining as a powerful witness to the hope found in Jesus Christ.
